Danish grammar

Der vs. det

Der presents that something exists/appears somewhere. Det identifies or describes something, acts as a "dummy" subject (weather, time, clefts), or refers to whole ideas. Keep them apart and your sentences sound natural.
Der – presentation / existence
Use when something appears, exists, or is located (often with erkommerstårliggerfindes).
Der er kaffe There is coffee
Der kommer en bus There is coming a bus
Der står en bil udenfor There is a car outside
Der ligger et hus ved søen There is a house by the lake
Der findes mange løsninger There exist many solutions
