Danish grammar

Interrogative pronouns

Danish question words match English "who/whose/where/why/when/how/which/what" and the "what kind of" pattern. Remember V2 word order: in main questions the verb comes 2nd after the question word. Example: Hvor bor du? = Where do you live?
Who – hvem
Hvem er det? Who is that?
Hvem ringer du til? Who are you calling?
Hvem kommer i morgen? Who is coming tomorrow?
Hvem taler hun med? Who is she talking to?
Hvem af jer vil med? Which (who) of you wants to come?
Formal style allows fronted prepositions: Med hvem taler hun? In everyday Danish, keep the preposition at the end: Hvem taler hun med?
