Danish grammar
Interrogative pronouns
| Danish question words match English "who/whose/where/why/when/how/which/what" and the "what kind of" pattern. Remember V2 word order: in main questions the verb comes 2nd after the question word. Example: Hvor bor du? = Where do you live? | |
| Who – hvem | |
| Hvem er det? | Who is that? |
| Hvem ringer du til? | Who are you calling? |
| Hvem kommer i morgen? | Who is coming tomorrow? |
| Hvem taler hun med? | Who is she talking to? |
| Hvem af jer vil med? | Which (who) of you wants to come? |
| Formal style allows fronted prepositions: Med hvem taler hun? In everyday Danish, keep the preposition at the end: Hvem taler hun med? | |
