Relative pronouns
| Relative pronouns link a noun to a clause that describes it. Danish mainly uses der, som, hvis, and hvor. | |

| Use der when the relative pronoun is the subject of the clause. It cannot be used after a preposition and cannot be an object. | |
| Hun har en ring, der er smuk | She has a ring that is beautiful |
| Det er en mand, der bor her | That's a man who lives here |
| Jeg kender folk, der taler japansk | I know people who speak Japanese |
| Vi så et hus, der lå ved søen | We saw a house that lay by the lake |
