The future
| Danish has no special future ending. Use modal verbs + infinitive or the present tense with a time word to talk about the future. | |
| vil + infinitive (intention/will) | |
| vil often shows intention or willingness – and can translate English "will". | |
| Jeg vil sende det i morgen | I will send it tomorrow |
| Han vil flytte til København | He will move to Copenhagen |
| Vi vil købe et hus næste år | We will buy a house next year |
| Hun vil ikke komme | She won't come (she refuses) |
| Vil du ringe senere? | Will you call later? |
