at vide: To have factual knowledge of something. Used when you know a fact, piece of information, or how something works. Jeg ved, hvor han bor (I know where he lives). Hun ved meget om historie (She knows a lot about history). Vi ved ikke, hvornår toget kommer (We don't know when the train will arrive). |
at kende: To be acquainted with a person, place, or thing through direct experience. Used for familiarity, not factual knowledge. Jeg kender John (I know John). Vi kender byen godt (We know the city well). Hun kender reglerne (She knows the rules). |
